Tori B. is a 21 year old engineering student who has purchased patterns from me on more than one occasion. So....I reached out to her and asked her if she would like to share a few photos of her fashions and tell us a little about herself!
"I'm a 21 year old engineering student who only recently started seriously sewing about a year ago, but I've been sewing on and off since I was 11. I try to only sew when I'm done with all my school work, but it's really relaxing to me so I also do it when I need a break from the stress of engineering."
Tori is like a lot of young sewers trying to balance school, new careers, and learning the ABC's of sewing vintage and historical fashion. Patterns and fabric can be expensive, so finding the right source can be the difference in making that one special dress OR making two MUST HAVE items right away. "I try to post as much as I can on Instagram for my 165 followers (@seamstresstori) because I feel like it gives justification for the amount of money I spend on fabric!"
"I really love historical fashion, so the last two costumes I made during free time from work and school was for Renaissance Faire, but I mostly just sew for fun. I don't do reenactment, mostly because I'm not sure how to get involved, but that's something I think would be super fun for the future when I have more time! I have a few vintage dresses and a full 1780's gown planned next!" If anyone knows of a website or link for joining reenactment groups, please email me and I will make sure Tori gets the information.
